Choose Kind Libraries making a positive impact Think Kindness helped connect Altrusa Richardson with Hogaricito San Juan Bosco, a small orphanage in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, to receive their own Choose Kind Library. Through this collaboration and through funding provided by Altrusa Richardson's Outstanding Women of Today Luncheon fundraiser and a grant provided by Altrusa International Foundation, Altrusa Richardson purchased 65 Spanish language books which were shipped to Think Kindness so they could take them to the orphanage in October 2023 while their global team was there. The video above expresses the heartfelt gratitude and global impact Altrusa has made - One Book at a Time! To date, Altrusa Richardson has sponsored 24 local and 12 international Choose Kind Libraries. Richardson ISD Kindness Week During RISD “Kindness Week” we sponsored Third, fourth and fifth graders from 18 RISD elementary schools, who have Altrusa Choose Kind Libraries, to hear a book review by Meredith Davis, a Richardson native who graduated from Berkner High School. Meredith, co-author of “Her Own Two Feet”, visited schools through the week reaching Over 1,600 children who were thrilled to hear her presentation and asked so many interesting questions. Each school had butterflies the children had decorated hanging all over the halls and libraries as Meredith believes we can all “be strong like a butterfly”. The book and her presentation illustrates how little acts of kindness can multiply into wonderful life events, if you are only willing to take that one chance to change your life. Choose Joy and Kindness everyday!
