The Altrusa Wine & Chocolate Literary Society meets on the 4th Monday of each month.

The Committee reviewed all of the wonderful books that have been recommended by members. It was difficult to narrow down the list but they have found a fantastic variety for your reading pleasure in 2012.  They made an effort to include classics, new books, mysteries, non-fiction, and just plain fun reads.

Join us for a fun evening of Friendship, Wine, Chocolate, and Literature.

2012 Reading List:

January - Gifts of War - Mackenzie Ford

February - To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee

This beloved classic, published in 1960, is Lee’s her first and only novel and won a Pulitzer Prize. Told through the eyes of Jean LouiseScout” Finch, you learn about her father, Atticus Finch, an attorney, her brother Jem, and the town. Atticus believes that people usually contain aspects of both good and evil, but that good will usually prevail. Atticus teaches this to his children, but also to the town, as he works to defend Tom Robinson, an innocent black man accused of raping a white woman.
