International Friendship Day

UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY EVENT                                       

The Membership Committee, the Community Outreach Committee and Desperados Restaurant are partnering to invite you to participate in United Nations International Friendship Day (UNIFD).   In 2011, the United Nations proclaimed International Friendship Day to minimize the world’s many challenges. These include security issues, violence, and poverty.

Richardson Altrusans can do our part by strengthening our bonds of friendship through our community service work.

The UNIFD event will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 5 to 7pm at Desperados Restaurant at 3443 Campbell Road in Garland.  We will have happy hour prices and $10.99/$11.99 taco specials.

The Recruitment Team is inviting Altrusans with their potential members to arrive at 5pm to learn about Altrusa, participate in the project and meet club members.  Beth Leos said Recruitment would need about 20 minutes to complete their program. If you are not bringing a potential member you would need to plan to arrive after 5:20pm. 

The Retention Team will provide a fun game with prizes to get to know our newest members and mingle with potential members.  The Community Outreach Committee and Desperados are organizing the Friendship Food Project for Network.

Food insecurity is a major problem for many families in our community.  Desperados and Altrusa will advertise the event on their Facebook pages and in the Restaurant so people can drop off food donations.  Altrusans will gather food products for the event and use our social media to encourage food drop offs at the restaurant. 

As always, friends and family are welcome too.  What a great way to celebrate International Friendship Day.
